Oh, I love that line: “Gardening simply does not allow one to be mentally old, because too many hopes and dreams are yet to be realized.” That is so true for me... as soon as I start planning and thinking about garden plans (or future chickens) I feel so much happier-- like there is promise.

The compelling urge to garden has fallen away from my heart and frontal cortex a number of times. Each time I was convinced I would never return; was burned out; overwhelmed or, in my case, too busy building dance programming for the mobility challenged I returned to marvel the miracle of life bursting forth from seed.
